Studium Alchemiae is an ongoing artistic research project centred on the study of alchemical texts and imagery. Drawing primarily from historical manuscripts, printed books, symbolic diagrams and other source material, the project approaches alchemy from artistic, esoteric and academic perspectives, with a particular interest in its visual language, material practices and systems of thought.

Developed as a parallel trajectory to my broader artistic practice, Studium Alchemiae unfolds within the framework of The Laboratory for Certain Studies, as a space for research, reading, transcription, documentation and experimentation. Much of the research takes place through encounters with original material in libraries, archives and museum collections.

Rather than constituting a defined body of work in itself, Studium Alchemiae functions as an ongoing field of study, gradually informing and finding its way into my artistic practice.
