Studium Alchemiae
Studium Alchemiae is an ongoing artistic research project exploring the intersection between alchemy, image-making, and contemporary technologies of vision. Rooted in an artistic, esoteric, and academic study of alchemical texts and imagery, the project draws from early modern manuscripts, symbolic diagrams, and experimental photographic processes to investigate how transformation - both material and cognitive - manifests in the visual field.
Developed as a parallel trajectory to my broader artistic practice, the project unfolds within the framework of The Laboratory for Certain Studies - an open field for research, reflection, and material experimentation. Through a dialogue between analogue and digital methods, Studium Alchemiae examines the alchemical laboratory as a metaphor for artistic process: a site where matter, thought, and imagination converge.
Ultimately, the project traces a continuum between ancient hermetic philosophy and present-day algorithmic creation, seeking to understand how acts of transformation persist across mediums, epochs, and systems of knowledge.
