“TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN”
2012 · Two C-prints, two-channel video and rainbow machine
Through re-enactment and reconstruction, “To all whom it may concern” investigates the utopian worldview developed by the American doctor and mystic Charles W. Littlefield in the early twentieth century.
Bringing together photography, video and a rainbow machine, the work explores relationships between belief, experiment and image-making. Reconstructing elements of Littlefield’s world becomes a way of approaching the ideas that sustained it, considering how a speculative understanding of reality can acquire material and perceptual form.
